The “/” in the title of this artwork represents a mirror, and
the two “i”s symbolise the artist himself. This kinetic installation
features two hanging, rotating monitors, each playing video of the
artist gazing at his own reflection across different timelines. When
the monitors are positioned face to face, the various iterations of
his “self” encounter one another, mirroring the experience of looking
into a mirror. This moment evokes both familiarity and strangeness,
resulting in a complete and authentic representation of the “self”.
